My boys …How to use themed paper..

IMG_1204Using my June Scraptastic kit, I came up with this Layout. You might think at first sight this paper screams out city theme. Looking past the city background photo, I saw beautiful shades of green and turquoise . My photo placement uses the chevron pattern to bring your eye down and away from the city look. It’s the complete contrast, both a beach photo and the city background that creates a story in your mind…keeping with neutral tone on tone stickers the page is seamless and easy to look at.

I had so much fun playing with my stickers, layering and keep things neutral.

Its your turn to be inspired…

Love at first sight

…If you begin with love everything else falls into place. I have been way too busy. Making excuses. Cleaning. Renovating. Mourning. Avoiding the one room that would get me out of this funk. I know you understand me.

I cleaned out my Sanctuary, my SSSHHH bought me a new work table…and then I looked through all my photographs and found love.

The same feeling I get that compels me to take the photo in the first place., the feeing to fill the emptiness…

I am working on summer photographs from two summers ago. These are the ones I took with my 35mm film camera. It is winter right now -27 outside , these seem to be the perfect time to look back and warm me up.

I have been watch alot of Tracy from mercytiara on you tube, loving her style …finding my groove and realizing that it is ok to grow and change and to let go of something you really don’t enjoy because maybe just maybe the simple act of just scrapbooking is enough for now…In order for me to be good to myself and my children I must find my balance. I found the pressure of making videos too much…took my focus off my passion…I lost the love…

I love this photograph of Gabriella. her silhouette the natural cast of light off the water…I love the summer. I love the beach. I love capturing my love on film. Today is all about love…finding it and never letting go. Scrapbooking has to emote some type of passion inside you…or you cannot sustain it. I hope I can continue to inspire you through simple blog , this keeps me happy and motivated…because it all began with love…a photograph…and some really cool paper.

Why I scrapbook…

There are so many reasons why…these are just a few..

I have two beautiful children, a loving handsome husband … they inspire me to photograph…

I used my gypsy to create a 12×12 page full of different sized words..

Every photograph has a story…It is up to you how it will be told…it will be up to them to cherish it….

Looking forward to Easter…by remembering the past…

I am so in love right now…with the past…it excites me for the future. My scrapbooking style is one year behind. Almost an excuse to not worry about scrapbooking everyday, milestones celebrations, and as this weekend fast approaches, it is all about family gatherings.

I began this Easter layout with the K&Company poppyseed paperstack. Purple is the colour for Easter. And this paper line delivers a wonderful punch of purples that made me happy.I have been watching Arlene on  mybutterflykisses…she has inspired me to distress my edges, and I went crazy…

The paper in this pack is double sided. Bonus, less thinking more scraping…I love that everything matches, so all I did was cut three and a half inches from the top saving the sentiment already printed on the bottom of the paper, flipped the top part over…more time saved, less title thought, using the paper for all it is worth.

Using my favourite Ali Edwards stamp set, ” Simply You ” I followed the natural border of the leaf vine and continued, around the blank areas using each different sentiment from the entire set, choosing smaller text or larger fonts to keep the border pleasing to my eye…

The purple flowers were bought that way, the yellow rose was misted with smooch glimmer, the nest is from prima, and all other flowers are from the dollar store. I used yellow recollections card stock as my photo matte , and also cut out the butterflies with my sizzix die. Using glossy accents almost everywhere..I brought life to the already beautiful details… I hope your excited, about Jesus, about a fresh new start for spring…a new look towards life. Sometimes we have to begin by remembering the past. That is Easter, it is celebrating something done in the past so powerful, so hard, so traumatic…yet it gave us a new chance a new life, of hope love and family. I am celebrating Easter with my family, I am wishing all of you, a happy spring, a blessed Easter…but mostly I am wishing that you are inspired to take some time to scrapbook something special just for you.

Sister’s 12 x12 scrapsaturday layout

Today is scrapsaturday, and while I have laundry going on behind me I sneak into my sanctuary. There has been this photo of my sister and I on my desk for the last few weeks, and even though I have other projects to complete the photo was calling to me, that fun feeling the craft call that I get when I look at a photograph.

This photograph is of myself on the right and my only sister Lucy. I love her very much, and this year she is engaged to be married. It is a fun, stressful time in her life, one that I can only guide her in…. meaning although I have been there and know in my heart everything you plan for will turn out just fine, and the other stuff that doesn’t turn out won’t matter ten or twenty years from now…it’s simply my job to just let her go through this, just as we all have, give her room to fall and be there with love and understanding and help pick her up…

I completed my layout with some lace trim, I love you ribbon and a few more stamps to balance off the dark doily stamp I placed closer to the photograph. Feeding some light purple embroidery thread through the chipboard buttons gave them more true to life feeling. Making my title letters stand out more, first I used distress  ink over them and then filled each letter in with some glossy accents. Sanding down all the edges of the chipboard pieces and distressing them gives them a more complete finished look.

Using a large pearl earing from the dollar store, I added a touch of class to an already beautiful crocheted flower made by my mother in law. The chipboard photo corner helps draw in some more pink, and but of course the prima bling too draw your eye towards my beautiful sister.

I already loved this photo in it’s original state. The 4×6, Christmas eve photograph probably was originally  intended to be part of a whole Christmas album, but instead I choose to scrapbook it with my heart. This end result is my feelings brought to life on paper with flowers, glue, ink and stamps. It’s a visual of the words that don’t exist in our language, this is how my sister makes me feel, bright blue and pink sparkly and bright…go through your photographs today, listen stop and feel, the right photo is just waiting to be scraped, no rules just feelings use your heart as a guide and then let go, in the end I know you will be just as pleased with your layout as I am with mine……….happy scrapsaturday…with love …for you Lucy..
